Redesigning Inspired Vision: Enhancing Financial Clarity

Overview

Timewise Financial is a firm that empowers clients to navigate their financial journeys with confidence. They envisioned "Inspired Vision," a mobile app aimed at delivering personalized financial insights, goal tracking, and actionable advice. I was approached to provide UX design services alongside photography to elevate the app's usability and engagement.

The goal? Transforming "Inspired Vision" into an intuitive, client-centered tool that complements Timewise Financial’s commitment to clarity and empowerment.

The Challenge

The initial feedback on the app highlighted several pain points:

  1. Complex Navigation: Users struggled to locate key features like budget tracking and goal-setting tools.

  2. Visual Overload: Information-dense screens made it hard for users to focus on actionable insights.

  3. Lack of Personalization: Users felt the app lacked customization, reducing its perceived value.

Research and Discovery

I conducted a multi-faceted research phase:

  1. Stakeholder Interviews: Understanding Timewise Financial’s vision and the app’s purpose.

  2. User Interviews: Speaking with existing clients to gather firsthand insights on usability issues.

  3. Competitive Analysis: Examining industry-leading apps for financial planning to identify best practices.

Key findings shaped the design approach:

  • Users wanted a clear hierarchy of information.

  • Gamified progress tracking could enhance engagement.

  • Personalization features were a must for retaining users.

The Solution

I reimagined the user experience with the following key updates:

  1. Simplified Navigation:

    • Introduced a tab-based navigation system with four primary categories: Dashboard, Goals, Insights, and Settings.

    • Grouped related features under intuitive labels to reduce cognitive load.

  2. Streamlined Visual Design:

    • Used white space and bold headings to create a sense of clarity.

    • Incorporated Timewise Financial's branding for a cohesive look.

  3. Personalized User Journeys:

    • Designed an onboarding flow to gather users’ financial goals and preferences.

    • Developed modular dashboards that adapt to user input, showing only relevant data.

  4. Gamified Engagement:

    • Added visual progress bars for financial goals, making achievements tangible.

    • Included celebratory animations for milestones, enhancing user satisfaction.

Reflection

This project underscored the importance of user-centric design in building trust and value in the financial services space. It was fulfilling to blend my photography skills with UX expertise, showcasing a holistic approach to enhancing Timewise Financial’s vision.

Next Steps

Based on feedback, I recommended future enhancements like integrating voice-based financial queries and expanding accessibility features.
