As I move into the quieter months of the year, I am looking to improve my portrait skills, elevate my automatic drawing process, and develop my skillset in Adobe Illustrator. Music always accompanies my process, so as I develop these techniques, I'm using them to reflect on the musicians I have been listening to a lot this year, starting with the British artist Rubii.

I start with a traditional sketchbook in acrylics in my sketchbook

Using spraypaint I create an automatic painting in response to the artist's music

I then create an automatic drawing in response to the music and the spraypainted shapes

Then I turn the image into a digital vector painting in Fresco

Finally I use Adobe Illustrator to complete the image using different light effects that I learnt from a course by Marmota vs Milky. I've created a 'Day' and 'Night' version. Which do you prefer?
