Overview

A major client of IBM, PNC Bank located in the U.S commissioned a new banking app for digital mobile platforms named "Pay with MyBank". Users can use the "Pay with MyBank" to securely access their account and pay quickly with the offered services. Acquiring the "Platinum Visa Mastercard" and checking their balance was made easier. Another functionality was also was required to connect with merchants and exploring the marketplace.

About the Project

At IBM most of the UI/UX team was already working on other clients portfolio, I was assigned by the Head of Design to work on the project and assist the development team with UI/UX expertise. The project was to span on a 6 weeks basis but got extended to 3 additional weeks as the workload was increased. I gathered all design system from the bank and started designing the screens using the bank branding colors and theme.

Research and Iteration Process

There wasn't too many research done as most of the visual components, branding and themes together with the design system was sent to us by the bank. Its was more getting used to and adapting with what they had to as branding. After several iterations and back to back presenting to the client, we settled on the final screens and sent everything for the agile team of developers to build the screens and get them ready for deployment within the main banking app.

Wireframing and Prototyping Process

Design Highlights

Adjusted to the minimalistic design, look and feel of the app, the current spacing grid used by the bank and the typography used everywhere. Worked through the color palettes, branding and design system to generate beautiful, engaging and delightful screens for the users. Created some new Iconography to illustrate some portions of the screens and paid particular attention to the streamlined forms input and text field.

Final Results

A sleek and beautiful app with human centered design in mind, totally accessible to anyone where users can check their balance, pay with MyBank and explore different Merchants and the Marketplace. The app was a hit and helped the bank generate mor erevenues and new user conversion.
