I sketched this in pencil and inked in black line work to use the art for a vinyl t-shirt graphic.

The story behind the piece

This art was inspired by my boys' love of snow and shoveling! To have more fun with it we made t-shirts for a mock business, a 'Super-Speedy Snow Shoveling Service!'

Given the upcoming holidays and excitement for any sign of flakes falling, a snowman seemed appropriate for the theme. (We're also bird nerds and seeing beautiful red cardinals against the snowy white is always a festive sight.)

Even though the winters aren't as cold or snowy as they used to be due to our warming climate, we Minnesotans like to get out and make the most of it... Shoveling, skating, sledding, skiing, snow forts, and snowball fights make a strong case for winter as the best season.
