🤓 Proactive Whatsapp
If you've been following this newsletter for a while, you know I have many ideas about WhatsApp. That's because the app is my main communication platform—far more than iMessage. Naturally, I'm always brainstorming ways to improve the user experience.
A few months ago, I joined a Webflow developers' community to network, offer help, and ask for assistance when needed. However, the community is very active, and I've found it challenging to keep up. To make matters worse, I can't even silence the notifications. Yes, I can pause push notifications, but I can't stop the little green circles appearing when new messages appear. That's when it occurred to me...
What If... WhatsApp could proactively detect whether you were actively participating in a community. If it recognized that you weren't engaging, it could automatically silence the notifications for that community until you next opened it up.
Communities are beneficial, but there are times when you may not be as active, and it seems unnecessary to have a constant stream of notifications in an app designed for simple and reliable communication.
