Capturing Cape Town [Part 2] - a photography brief

Artistic Composition

We were tasked with taking pictures for an exhibition named OUR CITY. The images would come together to make a triptych. The photos are authentic stills of Cape Town that have an artistic flare and intimate feel.

The mood is artist, authentic and intimate.

I chose to photograph people at V&A Waterfront. Its a place where many Capetonians come to unwind. This triptych is titled, On phone.

It shows people, who have been provided entertainment, but still choose to live through their phone. Either immortalising the moment into a digital form, or ignoring the entertainment completely to loom at their phone.

The first image shows a woman in white, recording entertainers.

The second image shows a man in red, charging his phone and looking at it. He has his back turned to the entertainer behind him.

In the third image, a man records a happy scene playing out in-front of him.
