Design Exploration: University’s information system redesign

In this design exploration, I’m redesigning my university’s integrated information system (UIIGateway) to create a more aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly experience.

During the process, I decided to redesign the logo to give it a cleaner, more scalable look.

"My goal is to encourage positive user responses and enhance usability, making the system more engaging and accessible".

To achieve this, I implemented a bento-style dashboard layout, applying the chunking method to organize content more effectively and help users process information easily.

Understanding that each person’s short-term memory capacity varies, I designed the dashboard to be customizable, allowing users to select which tabs to open or close according to their needs.

Displaying a live clock with milliseconds enhances the sense of real-time interaction and is especially helpful for students during their key-in period. Additionally, providing an easily accessible download link for the latest academic calendar (top right of the site) can be very useful for students. Most importantly, a feature to share students' current status (status studi) directly would be more convenient than requiring them to take screenshots.

This design features Material Symbol icons and uses the Inter typeface by Rasmus Andersson, creating a clean and modern visual style that complements the functional improvements.
