PolitelyADK PSA Campaign

Remember that one time?

In 2020 pretty much everything stopped. At the time I was working at the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism and as one could imagine at world-wide lock down puts a damper on travel. Luckily we were able to stay part-time and work from home.

As things progress, we needed to create an information campaign to communicate the ever-changing rules and restrictions to locals, businesses, and travelers. While the brief stated that the campaign didn't need to be elaborate and could just be a plain PSA, I had plenty of time to kill.

I needed a spokesperson/mascot to communicate the messaging, so I choose a number of native Adirondack animals. We started with several posters communicated basic COVID restrictions.

We started the campaign in late spring/early summer. So all the posters had pleasant summer themes. Of course, none of us knew how long things were going to last, so we eventually had to create winter versions of the posters as well.

Sometimes we had to keep the messaging simple, clear, and strong. Sometimes I wanted the wording to be a bit stronger...

As the restrictions eased, we used the gang in a variety of PSAs. Sadly, we stopped using them after a couple of years as their close association with the pandemic grew less favorable.
