Design Before Motion | Animated Posters
As a part of a creative challenge focused on mid-20th century poster design, I brought to life two highly appreciated works of art from a truly transformative period in the history of graphic design.
Tone Poems of Color
Released in 1956, the album was conducted by Frank Sinatra, boasting a memorable cover designed by the famous Saul Bass and showcasing works 8 notable Hollywood composers.
The short "tone poems" represented music reflections inspired by the poetry of Normal Sickel, radio writer and a close friend of Sinatra's.
The tune featured in the animation is named Silver, composed by Elmer Bernstein.
Interiors Magazine
During its peak in the 1950s, Interiors was one of the most beautifully designed publications focused on American interior design trends.
The art animated in the video is the work of Art Brenner, published as a cover of Interiors' August 1947 edition.
