Dynamite iOS App Redesign

I was hired exclusively for the app complete redesign, without a team—no project manager, product owner, or developers. This meant taking full ownership from day one.

Recognizing the need to begin with in-depth research, I proactively crafted a clear plan and executed each phase independently: conducting an app audit, competitor analysis, stakeholder interviews, and user interviews.

Below are a few snapshots of the many UX research tasks I managed solo.

When it was time to present to stakeholders, I introduced them to key product design practices, fostering collaboration. Through a series of initial wireframe and sketch presentations, I helped leadership structure the project for a successful kickoff.

Together, we recognized the value of forming a dedicated team to shape the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, streamlining decision-making and building a solid foundation for success.

Below are a few examples of the numerous wireframes and low-resolution exploratory mockups I proactively created.

After a phase of research and exploration, I began to address deeper UX facets, including various navigation options, information architecture, taxonomy, cognitive biases, and more. This effort contributed to a backlog of design elements that the product owner could prioritize.

Here are a few screens to illustrate some of the methodologies I've applied.

A year in, the team faced bandwidth challenges, and my work was still awaiting developer handoff. Then, we had to refactor the entire payment gateway using a third-party app, requiring us to deliver seamless designs under tight deadlines.

Our main challenges were:

  1. - Delivering within an impossible timeline.

  2. - Reimagining the checkout flow due to the third-party app constraints.

For two months, we refined designs with developers daily, balancing speed and quality. Ultimately, we met the deadlines and delivered an outstanding checkout experience for our users.

Throughout the project, I developed a pristine design system using auto-layout, providing an extensive set of specifications to streamline the developers' workflow.

After two years of technical challenges, the project was deprioritized, and my career took a new direction. I left with a strong sense of accomplishment despite the numerous challenges.

I will conclude with what I believe will be a much improved experience and interface once the project is re-prioritized.
