A bold, statement-making mural put CO Architects' signature on their new studio.

Client

CO Architects, a southern California-based architecture firm. Upon moving in 2022, the studio’s interior design was mostly minimal with neutral tones, but they wanted one area to embrace the bold, creative, LA-inspired attitude of the designers. They chose the kitchen, which was a central location that clients and employees would access.

Project completed as Graphic Designer with CO Architects.

Project

A vivid, playful vinyl graphic that references the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles, in which the firm is located. The kitchen wall was a vast empty space in a fairly dark room, so the challenge was to fill the space with color and movement while keeping the scale in balance so as to draw the eye across the piece rather than overwhelm the viewer.

Design

The initial design used a simple, four-color palette with hand drawn elements representing California. Through revisions, we altered the scale of the graphics, included more movement with icons breaking through their background squares, and made the symbols more specific to the precise neighborhood.
