Book cover and interior design for The Criminal Law

The Criminal Law by Mark Hewson is a uniquely methodical criminal novel set in the 1980s. We wanted the design to reflect that by using time-specific imagery and font selection.

Throughout the design process, we explored multiple approaches, ultimately centering the cover concept on an authentic Melbourne street scene. The focal point is the iconic yellow Z-class tram, a staple of the city and a vehicle frequently used by one of the book’s main characters.

The Criminal Law is now available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle versions.
