"Horticulture workshops"

Multisensory, contemplative, a source of well-being and a vector of social connection, the garden promotes autonomy, motor skills, sharing and self-esteem.

"There is no pressure or stakes. There is a kind of well-being, of intimacy in the garden that makes you feel good there. It is soothing. That is one of the benefits. It is also a workshop that stimulates the brain and where we do physical activity outside, in the open air, in nature. There is also something of the order of fine motor skills; when it comes to making cuttings for example. It is also an activity that has meaning. Sick people grow plants, flowers... The person being cared for thus becomes a caregiver. It is very positive."

Sonia Trinquier, founder of the association Mosaïque des hommes et des jardins in Montpellier, organizes gardening workshops with therapeutic aims. This is one of the inclusive activities facilitated by the first city in France to have signed the “Alzheimer’s Helping City” charter.
