Automagic Digital Receipts

Most point-of-sale systems today, like Toast and Square, are so advanced that they even swivel to pose the proverbial question for every dining purchase: "Will you tip? And if so, how much?" No judgment involved (suuureee), but this tilt encourages a quick decision.

22%. There it goes. The POS swivels back to its starting position.

Whether you choose to tip or not, these sophisticated point-of-sale systems got me thinking about a potential improvement.

What If... you could set an email address in your banking institution, such as Chase, so that all purchases made with your card automatically generate a receipt sent directly to that email?

Regardless of whether you need the receipt, you will always have a copy in your email, eliminating the need to decide at the time of purchase.

This process could all happen in the background.

Most systems can send digital receipts to any email address of your choice, so why not allow users to set this preference directly through their banking apps?

I believe this approach would save a lot of time and provide peace of mind, knowing that digital copies of receipts are easily accessible in your email.
