A Few Frames from My FCC Redesign

Here's a quick look at a solo project I completed during my UI/UX bootcamp. My aim in redesigning the Federal Communications Commission website was to enhance user-friendliness and accessibility for those seeking support. Feedback is appreciated!

I chose a style direction reminiscent of a school textbook. Given the FCC's wealth of information, it was crucial to ensure everything was organized and easy to read for all users. I also utilized similar colors found on their existing website, opting for richer and more vibrant shades.

This is the final draft of the homepage, compared to the current version. During the user research phase, I discovered that many users were unaware of the FCC’s purpose. My goal was to design a clear and inviting homepage that effectively guides visitors to the information they need.

To keep users informed, I included the upcoming event in the dropdown for the "News and Events" tab on the homepage.

I implemented a dropdown list for the tabs in the redesign project as part of the information architecture strategy. This decision allows users to easily access relevant links without navigating through multiple pages.

Here's an example of a full page I redesigned:

When looking at this page, I noticed it may not be very accessible for individuals with visual impairments, as the text is quite small. While the abundance of information and embedded links can be valuable, clearer separation between elements could greatly enhance user clarity.

I aimed to make the text more approachable by dividing it into clear sections rather than relying solely on indentations. This approach allows users to easily navigate to the relevant sections or links they need.

The dropdown was introduced to streamline user flow, allowing users to easily switch between different tabs in the 'Proceedings and Actions' section by clicking the list on the left. Additionally, users can navigate between the 'Mergers and Transactions' tabs through the dropdown, starting with the default 'Mergers and Acquisitions' page.

I'll be posting more from this project, but if you have any questions or want to check out the full prototype feel free to contact me through my portfolio.

Thank you for your time!!!
