Magazine Cover - Emerging Artist in The Age of AI
I designed this one for a Canva Design Challenge. The main requirement was to add 3D elements recommended by Canva into the design.
I figured the best way to include those 3D elements on a magazine cover depends a lot on storytelling.
For instance, I found that the orange and yellow 3D graphics look a lot like splashes and droplets of paint. Therefore, the perfect narrative would be about an artist! And since we're living in the age of AI growth, the artist has to be an emerging creative rising even above AI technology.
Sure, it's a fictional character in a made-up story. But fiction can be a very motivating source of breaking the ceiling in our real world.
After figuring out the narrative, the rest was just getting the right colors, tones, and fonts that matched those 3D elements.
P.S. It's been over a year since I designed this cover. I've been through ups and many downs since then. I was even in the middle of a creative drought as I composed this post. Trying my best to earn financial independence in this over-saturated creative field has burnt me out that I forgot how fun designing was to me. It has always been all about imagination, creativity, and intuition. I guess I lost sight of that. I'm glad I rediscovered that spark from writing this post.
