Introduction

Graphic Day is an event created for freshman who want to get more information about Graphic Design Major. It has 2 sections: Talk Show and Thesis Exhibition.

The event “Bringing the first FPT Graphic Design graduation thesis from Ha Noi to Ho Chi Minh is produced with the aim to attract 60% of Graphic Design students in Ho Chi Minh as well as other 5% of other majors’ students. This main event will showcase 11 artworks from the first class with 3 zones: Web/App, Animation and Branding.

With the knowledge-providing purpose, Event “Bringing the first FPT Graphic Design graduation thesis from Ha Noi to Ho Chi Minh City” is expected to solve the fire-drill of Graduation Thesis work but also bring Graphic closer to students.

Designs

1. Key Visual/ Poster

We decided to use the main image of the event as the image of the Statue of David. The Statue of David is a statue sculpted by Michelangelo between 1501 and 1504, a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture and one of Michelangelo's two greatest sculptures.

The reason our team used this image is because the statue represents for youthful human beauty and strength - corresponding to us, students who are full of energy and desire to bring beauty to everyone. And this is also the first image that we learn and approach in the first days of university.

In addition, the main colors used are two tones of orange and blue. These are also the main colors in our university's branding - FPT University.

And the typeface used throughout the designs is Hurme Geometric Sans. Hurme Geometric Sans is a geometric sans-serif typeface family designed in 2013 by Finnish designer Toni Hurme. The reason we use this typeface is because of its flexibility, there are many different font weights, easy to use in printing, websites, posters,... At the same time, this typeface also shows modernity and freshness - what we want to convey throughout this project.

Because the event is divided into 2 main parts: Talk show with guests and Exhibition of thesis, we made 2 different designs to suit those 2 use cases, but still ensure consistency based on the implemented key visual.

   We have also designed invitations for guests, lecturers, and students in the school to increase the professionalism of the event, which will also help promote the branding image of the project.
