Sculpting from Reference

By nature or by habit, I tend to imagine the illustration starting from a color palette, so I decided to create some grayscale illustrations. This way, I can focus better on volumes and chiaroscuro.

This subject is based on a reference with a very interesting pose. My version aims to capture the plasticity of the volumes and, at the same time, show a simplified version of the subject. I wanted the rendering to be rough and scratched, like an unfinished sculpture.
