Celebrating Shivratri: A Heartfelt Tribute to Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati

In this illustration, I sought to capture the essence of Shivratri, also known as Herath in Kashmiri culture—a sacred celebration that intertwines deep devotion to the divine couple. Through the beautiful tradition of Vatuk Puja, Kashmiri Hindus honor Shiva and Parvati, filling the vatuks (pots) with walnuts as a symbol of abundance and blessings.

This festival is more than a ritual; it’s a joyful gathering of families, united in their prayers for spiritual fulfillment and familial harmony. My vision was to depict this celebration in all its vibrant colors and profound significance, inviting viewers to feel the warmth of devotion and the joy of togetherness.
