About This Series

This is the first in a series of abstract self portraits I've been working on for the past month. I based these paintings on a series of digitally altered photos of myself, which I made for a project in my foundational art classes back in 2020. When I first completed these images, the objective was to use color theory and symbolism to represent the concepts of past, present and future. The past is looking at the world through rose-colored lens. The present is depressing and uncertain, thus warranting a darker and more moody color scheme. Finally, the future deserves a warm, hopeful color palette.
