Inktober 10/5 - 'Binoculars'

Day 5 of the @jakeparker Inktober Challenge.

Sketched in 4H pencil, inked with Micron, digitized in Procreate.

I decided to do a still life sketch and keep the style realistic. I was planning to add details and shading with stippling to give the line art some dimension, but decided to use Duplitone shading when digitizing in Procreate to mix things up and practice a different skill.

The story behind the piece

This is probably the most personal prompt of the challenge. I have my Grandpa's binoculars sitting on my book shelf and see them every day. He passed away several years ago so it's nice to have the reminder of his memory.

He was a WWII vet, avid bird watcher, and loved to take historical road trips all over the country, so these binoculars carry decades of sights and stories.
