Slack Calendar, Please?

I missed an important meeting yesterday, and it's Slack's fault.

We use Slack at work for everything. When I started, my manager told me the company lives on Slack and rarely checks emails or does anything with them. I found out that this is absolutely true.

There is just one problem...

The email software (Outlook) still powers calendar invites and meetings. Because of this, you must still switch between Outlook and Slack to create or accept invites.

The constant back-and-forth may cause you to miss important meetings, especially if they occur on the same day, as happened yesterday. A meeting invite was sent to Outlook, but I rarely check Outlook now, so I did not see it, and the meeting happened without me. I felt terrible.

So, it got me thinking...

What If Slack had a native calendar feature? Right now, you can get a version of a calendar through their Outlook app, but it doesn't sync as fast and only populates accepted meetings.

It's not wild to think they are exploring those concepts and the feasibility of making it happen. I don't think my idea is too novel or wild this time; I genuinely believe Slack is probably working on a version.

I just wished it could happen faster.
