This is a prototype capability I was prototyping last year for Sprockets database.
It is relatively easy to implement a system that unobtrusively lets researching mechanics know when there are major problems with old parts or used bikes. For example: plastic Simplex derailleurs from the 70s are known to snap and Trek recalled their disk-brake QRs between 1999-2015 due to a catastrophic quick-release/disk-rotor design failure.
This feature has been postponed due to some more in-demand features we hope to ship this February
