Sandarmoh. Special project

In October and November 1937, NKVD officers executed 1,111 people, including more than two hundred Ukrainians, in the Sandarmokh tract. Among the victims were prominent figures in politics, science, culture, art, and education. The location of these horrific crimes became known only 60 years later.

We will tell the stories of five notable individuals from that era who made significant contributions to the Ukrainian cause. We will recreate in detail the circumstances of their deaths and name those responsible for these atrocities. We will also outline the scale of Soviet repression, which culminated in the “Great Purge” of 1937-1938, using figures and facts.

This project was created in collaboration with Local History magazine. The illustrations were created by Maria Bilinska.
