EV Cluster Prototype

Back in 2016 I was intrigued by the simplicity of the prototyping tool Framer. It enabled me and my fellow designers to quickly pick up JavaScript style coding and test a result in realtime. Back then, prototyping for automotive HMI was still in the hands of SW engineers and done with more complex tools like Unity or homegrown engines.

I followed the Framer scene in Munich for a while and gave a presentation at one of their meet ups at the frog design studio in early 2016. My prototype centered around the idea of a simple yet highly flexible layout for an instrument cluster for an EV. The instruments reacted in realtime to input from the touch pad on the steering wheel. Features included list scrolling, car settings and a map.
