Banana Republic Launches BR Home

Concept: The BR Home collection, spanning bedroom, living room, and dining room furniture, as well as lighting and home décor, emphasizes global craftsmanship and high-quality materials, building on the reputation established by Banana Republic’s ready-to-wear lines. During our concept development, the team recognized that many competitors were lacking in both white glove service and innovative technology. We saw this as an opportunity to make BR Home a technology-driven experience.

From browsing the showroom on your mobile device to scheduling design consultations with a personal interior decorator, and even using mixed reality to visualize how furniture like a couch would look in your living room, BR Home integrates technology into every aspect of the customer journey. Our goal was to make every step—from shopping to white glove delivery—seamless and accessible through your mobile phone.

My Role: As a Senior UX Designer for Native Apps (iOS & Android) at Gap Inc., I was responsible for specific verticals across Gap, Old Navy, Athleta, and Banana Republic. I led the design for the launch of Banana Republic Home, a lifestyle brand offering home goods and furniture, where I created key design artifacts including competitive analysis, feature matrices, customer journey maps, wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, storyboards, and a "North Star" presentation to secure budget for an omni-channel experience.

The Team: I collaborated with other designers to ensure consistency in interaction and visual design, while working with the research and customer insights team to validate design solutions throughout the product lifecycle. I also partnered with product management to define requirements aligned with business goals, regularly presenting work to brand representatives for buy-in and approval, and worked closely with engineering to ensure technical feasibility, timely delivery, and seamless execution.
