The race
After completing the vintage bike illustration, I decided I wanted to make this into an animation. However, I needed to tune down the details....a lot.
I really wanted the character to bring across the struggle of trying to cycle uphill. That proved a lot more cumbersome than I imagined.
The movement of the character was based on the movement of the peddles. After fiddling around a lot, I gave DUIK a try for the inverse kinematics of the leg movement. It's not animated perfectly just yet, but DUIK proved to be a powerfull tool for these sort of things. Looking forward to a next project with character animation!
