Gigi Dating App · Core Feature Prototype · Product & UX/UI Case

Hello! 💗

Today, I’m delighted to share the result of a design case study for a dating app, aimed at prototyping a new core feature within a limited time period.

[The Client]

GiGi Dating is a dating app that uses AI to help women filter matches. It acts as an "intermediary," interacting with potential matches on behalf of women for the first few messages. After this AI-driven conversation, it suggests whether the match is worth pursuing.

[Goal of the Project]

For this case study, I had to focus on prototyping a core feature for Gigi Vision. The app's main idea is to create a wingwoman who knows users deeply, curates their best matches, and makes intros that feel personal, like a friend helping them out. We want to eliminate endless swiping and awkward conversations by having Gigi do the heavy lifting. (More info below)

Moving forward, I’m focusing on using AI for better personalization, making profiles interactive, and positioning Gigi as a “Gossip Girl” who knows everything about everyone. The goal is to create more meaningful interactions, reduce pressure on users, and shift from traditional swiping to a more content-rich experience. I also need to build Gigi’s Room as a core feature, where users can see all their interactions ranked by relevance. Ultimately, I’m still working on how to make the wingwoman concept clearer and more integral to the user experience.

As I worked through the current flow, I saw that while onboarding captures user preferences, we haven’t yet cracked how to use that data effectively. The feed isn’t personalized enough, and users still have to scroll through profiles. Plus, Gigi stepping in to start conversations after a match creates friction, especially for girls, which hurts retention.
