Avalara-Cloud-based indirect tax compliance software
Problems I've observed and solved as a UX Designer while I was working on the Designing of Avalara Taxation Solutions.
1. Complex Navigation: Problem: Users found it difficult to locate information quickly due to a cluttered navigation structure. Solution: Redesigned the navigation to be more intuitive, categorising resources and services logically to improve accessibility and user flow.
2. Information Overload: Problem: The website presented too much information at once, overwhelming users. Solution: Implemented a clean, streamlined layout with collapsible sections and clear headings to guide users through content without feeling overwhelmed.
3. Mobile Responsiveness: Problem: The mobile experience was not optimised, making it hard for users to navigate on smaller screens. Solution: Developed a responsive design that ensures all elements are easily accessible on mobile devices, enhancing usability for on-the-go users.
4. Engagement with Resources: Problem: Users struggled to engage with educational resources, leading to low participation in webinars and downloads. Solution: Introduced interactive elements, such as dynamic content previews and clear CTAs, to encourage users to explore resources actively.
5. Customer Support Accessibility: Problem: Users had difficulty finding support options when they needed assistance. Solution: Created a dedicated support section with easy-to-find contact information and an intuitive FAQ section to improve user confidence in seeking help.
6. Visual Hierarchy: Problem: Lack of visual hierarchy made important information hard to identify. Solution: Applied consistent typography and design elements to create a clear visual
hierarchy, guiding users’ attention to key areas and actions.
7. User Feedback Integration: Problem: Limited user feedback mechanisms resulted in a lack of understanding of user needs. Solution: Implemented feedback forms and usability testing sessions to gather insights, allowing for ongoing improvements based on real user experiences.
