Overview: The National Conference of Weights and Measures (NCWM) sought SPINX's expertise to modernize their website and simplify their complicated membership platform for both staff and users. The goal was to enhance user experience by making the site more user-friendly and visually appealing, ensuring it effectively communicated NCWM's important role in certifying weighing and measuring devices.

Discovery: NCWM recognized the need for a more modern and navigable website, as the previous site was content-heavy and outdated, making it difficult for visitors to find necessary information. During the discovery phase, extensive user interviews and usability tests revealed significant pain points, including small font sizes and overwhelming walls of text, which informed the direction for the redesign and provided a clear path to improvement.

UX Strategy: The insights from user interviews guided the customization of NCWM's website, ensuring that any changes respected the organization's established reputation. A thorough content audit helped redefine the information architecture, leading to a more intuitive navigation system that improved access to high-demand resources.

Build: SPINX implemented a clear typography hierarchy across the website to improve visual interest and navigation, using techniques such as tabs and accordions to enhance readability. The new website was built on a custom ASP.NET content management system that provided a user-friendly backend for administrators. Special attention was also given to the ecommerce functionality, creating a streamlined checkout process that allowed both first-time guests and returning users to complete their purchases quickly and efficiently.

Test & Launch: Collaboration between the NCWM team and SPINX ensured thorough testing of the website across multiple browsers and devices, focusing on user experience to address any potential issues prior to launch. Given the timing of the launch coinciding with a peak membership renewal period, it was crucial that the site functioned smoothly from the start, and post-launch monitoring was conducted to optimize performance based on user interactions.
