Quinn the Fox Playing Cards
Someone recently asked if our Quinn the Fox Playing Cards were “just another low-effort deck” focused only on face card designs. (Their words, not mine.)
Setting aside the fact that these cards took three years to design, the assumption that a design is “low effort” simply because it prioritises legibility is intriguing. We wanted them to be usable and playable, not a deck that requires an Enigma machine to decode. That meant finding the right balance between clarity and creativity.
Every detail, from the layout of the symbols on the number cards to the negative spaces in between, was carefully considered. It’s often the simplest designs that take the most time to perfect.
