Overview: Spexster is a startup marketplace that connects videographers with advertisers, allowing advertisers to purchase spec videos for their marketing campaigns. This platform enables videographers to monetize unused footage by making minor edits based on the advertisers' branding materials.
Discovery: During the discovery session with Spexster's founders, we identified a lack of direct competitors, prompting us to focus on indirect competitors like stock footage sites. This research, alongside design inspiration exploration, informed our unique design approach as we transitioned into the UX strategy and wireframing phase.
UX Strategy: In the UX Strategy phase for Spexster, we focused on developing a minimum viable product (MVP) by creating a product roadmap that prioritized key features for immediate success. We emphasized three core pages—landing, video list, and detail pages—designed for optimal engagement, along with a streamlined conversion funnel to facilitate a smooth user experience in their high-ticket marketplace.
Build Phase: In the Build phase for Spexster, we implemented a cinematic design using darker colors complemented by vibrant accents to enhance user engagement. The site was built from the ground up on a custom .NET platform, allowing for specialized features and interactions, such as video previews on hover and seamless navigation to detail pages, all designed to deepen the user journey and facilitate a unique marketplace experience.
Test & Launch: In the Test & Launch phase, we rigorously tested the site across various devices and browsers, ensuring a seamless experience before training the client on the CMS. With no prior visitors to consider, we were able to launch Spexster's new video spec marketplace at the client's preferred time, confidently moving forward without any obstacles.
Closing Thoughts: As we advance along the project roadmap, we've been enhancing Spexster's functionality, receiving positive feedback from users. With a promising future ahead, Spexster is poised for its well-deserved spotlight.
