Black Uhuru | Spot Illustration

Presenting the first spot illustration I created for a cultural hotspot map project commissioned by the City of Toronto / Cultural Hotspot, spotlighting the vibrant Eglinton West/Little Jamaica community, which I proudly call home! This artwork showcases Michael Rose and his Black Uhuru bandmates, symbolizing their deep roots in Toronto’s reggae music scene.

Michael Rose is a reggae icon, renowned for his powerful vocals and significant influence on the genre. As the lead singer of Black Uhuru, he has shaped reggae’s sound and spirit, garnering international acclaim and a devoted following. With strong ties to Toronto, Michael embodies the cultural bridge between Jamaica and Canada, making him a perfect focal point for our community’s cultural hotspot map.

Special thanks to ADs Lory Diaz and Emma Ward.Stay tuned for more artworks from this project coming your way soon!
