Disney Internship // 2019 - 2020

Working as a Design Intern @ The Walt Disney Company in Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer & International Design team for my university assessed placement year. I sourced and edited graphical assets to design engaging page layouts and worked to deadlines ensuring consistent delivery of digital content for 23 markets across Europe, the Middle East and Asia (EMEA).

In March 2020, Disney Plus was launched in the UK. I was tasked to create many of the Disney Plus articles advertising the platform on the Disney website. For May the 4th (Star Wars day), I was responsible for designing the Disney Plus article to announce that all of the Star Wars movies had been released on the service; which was kept secret until release day.

Each week, I was tasked to design shopDisney articles and homepage shop grids to help advertise new promotions and products. It was important that product colours and backgrounds visually aligned to create a unified grid.

Every month, I was responsible for the recurring 'Minnie Mouse the main attraction' articles, which promoted themed Minnie Mouse merchandise based on a Disneyland attraction. I really enjoyed having ownership over this brand.

Prior to the movie release of Mulan and Onward, I was responsible for creating hero assets, promotional packages, shopDisney article page layouts and resizing localised logos for all 23 markets across EMEA. This was challenging as we had fairly limited source material to work with.

Occasionally, I was tasked to create page layouts with directions to showcase upcoming Disney stage shows and events to increase sales. This included National Geographic's Symphony of our World orchestra and Pretty Women: The Musical.

Disney competition articles were requested to engage the European market with particular IP. I designed page layouts and graphical assets and communicated with producers abroad to deliver this content successfully.

As an intern, I took the opportunity to participate in the many events and activities at the Disney office as a VoluntEAR. This ranged from helping to organise & set-up events, fundraising and meeting the Disney characters! 🐭
