Berénybene kincse – pálinka

Hungarian brandy label with Amsterdam’s Curly Letters

Berénybene is a country farmland in the middle of Hungary. The people here are famous for producing all their own food products. Everything is homemade, including the brandy made by the J. Pintér family. It is not a coincidence that their favorite hard liquor is called Treasure. (The meaning of ’Berénybene Kincse’ is ’Treasures of Berénybene’).The main element of the design is the title line, drawn in the style of ‘Amsterdamse Krulletter’, i.e. Amsterdam’s Curly Letter. This Dutch lettering style was fashionable in the early 20th century, and it suites perfectly to the softness of the liquor and expresses the craft values as well.I drew the apple tree at the top of the label using the scratchboard illustration technique. The label has a nice layer of varnish that makes the lettering and illustration look plastic. These visual and tactile effects make the drink stand out from the crowd. The printed label used MGI surface finishing.
