717C Glass 3D

As a part of 717 Church's identity, a series of looping animations were crafted for use across their digital presence. From a rougher frame animation style to more polished and sleek 3D, these animations can be used across different mediums to dynamically showcase 717's identity.

Modeled and textured —

I've always been a fan of logos encased in spinning glass objects. Refraction and aberration are two of the coolest things light can do and I wanted to leverage that for this looping animation. The real magic in this design is in the glass shader on the cube.

While the 717 logo is completely stationary, the glass shader gives an illusion of movement. In addition, the blue and orange light emitted from the logo itself interacts with the glass shader based on color frequency, turning a simple, shadeless glass shader into a prism of color.
