Expression Exploration

The importance of practice and repetition is something that I highly stress for anyone starting out in design or illustration. I, nor you, can expect to become an expert without putting in dues first.

All of the sketches, see attached, were conceived and improved through the use of tracing paper. But, they all started out as a rough little scribble the size of a quarter in my sketch book.

I don't worry about getting the perfect sketch down the first time. Instead, I focus on getting the idea out of my head quickly so that I can strengthen it later.

In this case, these little dudes transferred terrifically to illustrator and I am having a blast exploring different facial expressions.
