End the endless scroll

Live reactions are pre-written words and emojis that appear to users while they scroll through TV streaming services. These reactions are created by other viewers when watching a movie or TV show and are associated with specific timestamps during particular scenes. The purpose is to help users navigate the overwhelming number of choices and endless scrolling when trying to find something to watch. A couple of years since first writing about this, I thought I'd revisit the topic. By showing users real-time or near-real-time reactions from other viewers, may encourage others to watch a movie or TV show currently being watched by others and anticipate the timestamp of specific reactions. It also adds a subtle element of implicit engagement between users, making the content feel more live. Nevertheless, if it helps users slow down by increasing their curiosity with a particular keyword or emoji reaction, that's a good thing.
