Rước đèn tháng tám - by Vân Thanh (Đức Quỳnh)

The two songs "Hoa cúc mùa thu" - by Phạm Tuyên & "Rước đèn tháng tám" by Vân Thanh (Đức Quỳnh) inspired me for this project. To extend the sustainability of products, I used a wooden box with a basic sliding lid design, convenient for reusing. On the top of the wooden box is engraved a picture of a Lac bird wearing a conical hat and carrying a gift bag, the embodiment of Chus, the Vietnamese bird bringing Vietnamese gifts to everyone, not only on the Mid-Autumn Festival but also on all other occasions of the year.

My favorite part is the design of the wrapping paper, I am impressed by the traditional Vietnamese wrapping paper, and immersed in the motifs and patterns of William Morris. With that inspiration, I sketched the familiar mid-autumn lanterns from my childhood such as star, fish, butterfly, rabbit, ... I arranged the patterns up and down according to the rhythm "tung dinh dinh cac tung dinh dinh" combined with chrysanthemums, one of the typical flowers of autumn with a warm yellow color like the full moon. The soft harmony of flowers and leaves with the peaceful childhood memories of playing mid-autumn next to fairy tales has brought a breath that is magical, lyrical, and cheerful.
