Illustration - Gateaways to Uzbekistan's treasures
I've tried to capture (in a minimalist way) the beauty of this 2000-year-old city of Bukhara, nestled in an oasis in the Kyzylkum desert.
Bukhara being one of the many stops on the Silk Road, caravans crossing the Kyzylkoum desert could see the flame burning permanently at the top of the minaret, this lighthouse of the desert. The minaret served not only as a call to prayer, but also as a watchtower and landmark for trading caravans.
This second Illustration is inspired by Palhavan Mahmud Mausoleum in Khiva's Ichan Qala.
and if you'd like to immerse yourself in the desert, here's a small Spotify playlist you might enjoy. 🐪 🎧
Thank you for watching.
