Design System - CV Icream
Developed a comprehensive Design System from scratch for CV ICream, an online CV builder.
Overview
CV Icream is an online CV/Resume builder. It's a project aimed at simplifying CV creation by focusing on vital elements and removing extras for a smoother user experience.
I initiated the project and led product discovery and development from start to launch within a year. Responsibilities included design system creation , end-to-end delivery, and development oversight.
Scope
Role: Product Designer.
Timeline: 1 year (From 0 to 1, MVP launched)
Team: 5 members, including 1 mid-level UX designer, 1 senior full-stack developer, and 2 junior front-end developers.
Collaboration: I worked closely with the senior full-stack developer to ensure the design system was clear, maintainable, and fully aligned with the development process.
A design system is a set of building blocks (like UI Legos!) and standards that ensure products remain consistent in look and feel.
Key focus when I create or maintain a Design System:
Consistency and Scalability:
Ensure a cohesive look and feel across platforms. Design the system to grow with the product, integrating new features without losing coherence.
Simplicity and Reusability:
Prioritize reusing existing elements to enhance efficiency and practicality, keeping the system easy to manage.
Documentation and Collaboration:
Provide clear guidelines to ensure the system is easy to understand and implement, fostering collaboration among designers and developers.
