Car Dealership Sales Software Redesign

At smart Europe, I led the design of the ‘Agent Dashboard’ for car dealerships. The software faced numerous critical issues, including slow loading times and confusing task routes, which hindered agents’ ability to sell cars effectively.

The most significant problem was the cluttered and unstructured design, making the tool unpleasant and hard to use, resembling a wireframe-style that didn’t meet the agents’ needs. This led to excessively long tasks, frustrating errors, and missing functionalities. In some cases, agents even resorted to using Excel sheets to manage their leads instead of the app.

Below you can see a screen recording of the software as it was when I took on the project:

User Research

To address these challenges, I conducted extensive user research, including interviews, to understand the agents’ mental models, needs, and pain points.

Redesign Process

By aligning these insights with business requirements, we established critical workflows, or red routes, that guided a comprehensive redesign of the software.

To bring these improvements to life, we organized a Design Marathon, affectionately dubbed the “Designathon.” During this intensive week-long project, a talented team of external designers from Dept. Agency collaborated under my leadership and supervision. Together, we developed innovative UX and UI designs for the Agent Dashboard. Our results are showcased below:
