QualityBalance - Educational quality in perspective

Quality is more than meeting legal requirements. As an educational organization, school or team, you also have your own ambitions. Since 2021, we have been working with Jeroen Ulijn and Mark van der Pol on their Quality Balance. The Quality Balance is a method and instrument to define, 'prove' and justify quality in primary education based on three perspectives: ambitions, expectations and requirements.

Quality in perspective

In a simple digital tool, education directors, administrators and staff can manage, assess and give meaning to quality indicators. A timeline uses photos, videos and relevant documents to visualize what is being done on each indicator in practice. To complement the digital platform, we designed two physical objects that make clear at a glance the vision behind the product. Depending on what you place on the triangle and where you place it, the triangle is balanced. The physical tools are conversation starters for having an in-depth conversation about what educational quality means to a school and what is most important from each perspective.
