About
The Works nightclub is a new dance venue in Manchester that promotes progressive house and dance music. Its aim is to create a multi-themed venue serving different club nights. It is situated in a converted abandoned warehouse in an industrial area.
Materials and Design
The aim is to use lighting and projection technology to create themed nights for different music events and tastes. The materials reflect industrial settings mixed with futurist forms to reflect the progressive music of the club nights. The lighting defines the different spaces and sets the mood for different engagements and functions.
The Works nightclub is set within an abandoned mill and progresses the space and functions to provide a new key venue for music nights and promotions.
The style is industrial futurist, which sets the scene and space for the venue. The materials and motifs create a running theme throughout the club, defining its character.
The main rooms use programmable LED lighting to create immersion and space for different music nights and events.
The back wall uses projections and lighting to define the corridor and main room to reflect a gallery space concept.
The toilet's concept is rest, retreat, and peace away from busy spaces. It uses neon tubes to create contrasting ambient lighting and defines a resting space from the rest of the club.
The main room uses projection and programmable LED lighting to support different themed nights and events.
The VIP area uses projections and LED lighting to create a more luxurious setting, using the Garden of Eden concept. The aim is to provide a separate and distinctive space from the rest of the club.

Nightclubs should be designed with diversity and progress of different music tastes. Lighting and projection technology can support this by creating space and immersion to heighten the senses. A focused theme can promote the different music nights and events, supporting the venue's business and creating a key club for punters within the city.
