About Agro IT

Backstory & Purpose:

• Agro IT (Innovation Technology) Mobile App is a project intended for competition, where it won 2nd place in the Idea Pitching Competition FOA 2021 Summer School organized by Villanova University Pennsylvania & IPB University. This project presentation was also the Best Presenter at the 9th Adiwidya International Conference on Smart Cities.

• Agro IT is an application that utilizes IoT sensors to determine conditions and assist smart agricultural activities in greenhouses. It also uses mobile applications as controller functions and has other beneficial features that help modernize farmers.

Problem

• Agricultural activities often encounter many obstacles, such as potential drought, less fertile land, etc. Apart from that, agricultural development is increasingly complex due to the lack of technology compared to other areas of life, so that many farmers do not receive adequate welfare even though they have worked hard.

Solution

1). User Research:

• The method used in Agro IT user research is field studies, where we review farmers' conditions directly and indirectly by exploring various supporting literature. Information was found that farmers spend too much time and energy because they have to continuously monitor field conditions manually and require the help of modern technology & education to optimize agricultural results.

• The Agro IT app has three main features: Control, Supply, and Educate. Control allows users to find out land conditions automatically. Supply is a feature where Agro IT becomes the custodian of supply (provider of tools, seeds, and others). Meanwhile, Educate is a feature where this application also educates farmers.

2). Hi-Fi Design:

• Several stages in UI/UX were skipped due to the urgency of completing the product quickly. Around 30+ screens were created as Hi-Fi designs & prototypes of the app.
