Batman Illustrations

Enter your text here...Parts of a whole. I love adding a little bit of backstory with some of the small contextual illustrative elements around the main illustrations. I didn't really notice it as an intentional part of my process until very recently when someone mentioned that they liked how the little icons and background elements provided subtle context clues about the main illustration. It's funny how things creep into our process that end up aligning with an idea that we've held on to for a while. I don't remember which artist it came from, nor the actual quote but the sentiment rings true still: don't draw the action, draw its preamble or it's denouement. Probably a Jack Kirby, Frazetta, Rockwell thing. Just kidding, I just wanted to use denouement in a sentence. This whole project has been a red herring to make my high school English teacher proud of me. Did I earn that C yet, Ms. Pomella?
