This is a digital illustration based on a photograph I took last summer to document one of the most memorable moments.
One of my favorite childhood traditions was Sunday evening walks with my Aunt and grandmother in Port Canaveral. We would park near the port and walk along the beach and the jetty to watch the cruise ships leave. I remember the first time I watched a ship pass by, I marveled at its enormity and how small the passengers' waving hands looked in comparison.
Last summer I walked down the beach toward the jetty again and watched as this ship cruised for open waters. The sunset highlighted the massive storm clouds in pastel hues. I thought to myself, I HAVE to paint that.
