Series of posters - 50 years since the creation of ‘Bombychka’
Background
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary "bombychka" beer bottle, Shumensko, in partnership with ONE DESIGN WEEK 2016, invited visual artists to participate in creating an anniversary series of posters inspired by the 60s and 70s era. The contest exhibition in the Kapana district of Plovdiv was a part of the 8th edition of the ONE DESIGN WEEK festival in Bulgaria.
ONE DESIGN WEEK is an international festival for contemporary design and visual culture. ONE DESIGN WEEK strives to serve as a platform which stimulates and supports the development of design professionals in Bulgaria. At the same time the festival aims to present and promote sustainable and sensible practices for better and beneficial visual environment from around the world.
Concept
The three posters are united by the message, ‘By air, by land, by sea, for 50 years Shumensko is still enjoyed.’ It is presented with characteristic silhouettes from the 1960s and 1970s, clear contours in positive and negative, a synthesized color palette, and bold typography with strong geometry.
The posters recreate the atmosphere of the mid-60s, when ‘the sea’ was a cherished event that everyone had a story to tell, even 50 years later. The cultural context for both Bulgarian and foreign tourists may differ. Still, the common thread between every passenger on board BGA Balkan and the adventurer with a Lada Niva has always been the thirst for a sip of cold, good beer.
