Ginseng Plant Illustration

Did you know I used to hunt ginseng growing up?! 

YEP, my Dad was taught by his Dad and so forth we continued the side hustle as kids ourselves. I remember hiking steep cliffs and mountains in Bedford PA, looking for the bright red berries. Then, I'd get my digging bar out and see how big those roots were down below! Careful, you might stir up a colony of ants! I remember Dad laying out all the roots on newspaper and putting them on boards in the shed where it would get the highest temperatures through the Summer to dry. Then we'd sell it for a couple hundred dollars per pound! I wonder if our hunting spots are still there, or if someone else found and harvested it all. 

So, yeah, illustrating this one hits home for me! Illustrated for a logo icon for Seng Studio, Roots Music Revived.
