Seafarm Sonnets
Seafarm Sonnets is an audio campaign designed to showcase the importance of 3D ocean farms. The project takes inspiration from smoking outros, library music, and Stéphane Mallarmé poems, blending poetic and auditory elements to highlight sustainable ocean farming.
✽ Imagery from British Seaweed Journals: Utilises historical imagery from 1800s British seaweed journals to connect the project to its maritime heritage.
✽ Nautical Maps: Features nautical maps of the farm area, providing geographical context and visual interest.
✽ Coastal Photography: Incorporates imagery of the coast of the farm, highlighting the natural beauty and environment of the farm.
✽ Colour Palette: Derived from the farm's photography, ensuring an authentic visual representation.
✽ Lyric Book: Includes a lyric book of the poems, adding a literary dimension to the campaign.
Seafarm Sonnets also creates a collectible vinyl record set comprising five 7" LPs and one 12" LP. The record sleeves double up as posters when assembled, offering both an auditory and visual experience.
The Seafarm Sonnets campaign stems from an exploration of sustainable ocean farming practices, whilst reflecting this in its form. Drawing inspiration from smoking outros, library music, and Stéphane Mallarmé poems, the project aimed to create a unique blend of auditory and poetic elements. Historical imagery from British seaweed journals and nautical maps were used to root the project in maritime history. Coastal photography and a colour palette derived from the farm's own imagery were incorporated to maintain visual authenticity. The result is a collectible vinyl record set, where the sleeves double as posters, offering an engaging and multifaceted experience. This comprehensive approach highlights the importance of 3D ocean farms and celebrates their beauty through art and music.
